Group Subscriptions

Cover a family, team, or company on one subscription, with multiple members sharing the same plan.

Overview

A group subscription is a single subscription that covers more than one member. One invoice, one renewal cycle, and shared entitlements under the product rules, while each person still has their own member profile.

Use this for family memberships, household plans, corporate seats, team packages, or any arrangement where one payer covers several people.

When to use a group plan

SituationApproach
One person joins and pays for themselvesA normal individual subscription.
A family or household shares one membershipOne group subscription with each person as a covered member.
A company pays for several employeesOne group subscription (or one per company account), with employees as covered members.
The company itself is the memberMake the company the member record, then subscribe that profile. You may not need individual people on the subscription.

Group subscriptions keep people as separate profiles so you can invite them, issue cards, book events, and track benefits per person. Billing stays on the shared subscription.

Set up a group subscription

Enable group subscriptions on the product

When creating the product, set the Joint membership option to Multiple, and select the maximum number of members that can be covered (for example a family of 5), or allow unlimited members. See Creating Products.

Select members covered

When creating the subscription, select the primary member who will appear on the invoice. Then, select the additional members who should be covered, without paying themselves.

Shared benefits

You can configure the benefits to be shared or separate for each covered member.

For example, a family membership may give a shared '10 sessions' entitlement, but a corporate membership might give the 10 sessions separately to each employee.

See Benefits for more information.

Billing and who pays

Invoices belong to the subscription, not to each covered member separately. However, a 'billing member' is required to meet legal requirements for a name appearing on the invoice and receipt. Decide who the payer is:

  • The primary member on the subscription holds the payment method.
  • For corporate plans, the company member or a designated contact may be the payer while employees are covered members only.

Covered members can still have linked accounts and access to the member website and app for their own profile, cards, and bookings. They do not each get a separate membership invoice unless you create separate subscriptions.

Changes to the group

  • Add someone: Attach another member profile to the existing subscription when a new family member or employee should be covered.
  • Remove someone: Take them off the subscription when they should lose those entitlements. Their member profile remains; only the shared plan coverage ends.
  • Cancel the plan: Cancelling the subscription ends coverage for everyone on it. See Cancel a subscription.
